We own this town Insight

The miniseries is based on the book We Own This Town: A True Story of Crime, Cops and Corruption, an account of the Baltimore Gun Trace Task Force scandal written by journalist Justin Fenton. It offers a dramatization of events revolving around the police officers involved. It also shows how impactful and damaging police corruption is, especially in the long run.

If you’re not familiar with the scandal, it involved a Baltimore Police Department task force that went rogue, essentially terrorizing the city. The task force was supposed to get guns and criminals off the city streets. Instead, the officers engaged in a wide range of crimes that came to light following an investigation into their many wrongdoings.

The main cast for We own this town stars Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, the Punisher), Wunmi Mosaku (Lovecraft Country), Josh Charles (The good wife) and Jamie Hector (Thread). Early reviews for the show have been positive, with reviewers noting that it makes for a depressing yet compelling watch. Since the miniseries is based on true events, that’s only natural.

Expect great performances and a sobering look at the Baltimore police force. For fans of Thread, We own this town is must-have television.
