Veep Former Timothy Simons set to star alongside Jessica Biel in Hulu’s original limited events series Candies, based on the true story of Candy Montgomery (Biel), who killed her friend Betty Gore (Melanie Lynskey) with an ax.
In 1980 in Texas, Montgomery apparently had it all – a loving husband with a good job, a daughter and son, a beautiful house in the brand new suburb – so why did she kill her friend from church?
Simons will play Pat Montgomery, a brilliant engineer and loving father and husband of Candy Montgomery, but the events of the morning of Friday June 13, 1980 turn his perfect life upside down.
Melanie Lynskey and Pablo Schreiber are also on the bill.
Robin Veith wrote the pilot’s screenplay and will be executive producer. Nick Antosca will be executive producer under his Eat the Cat banner with Alex Hedlund. Biel and Michelle Purple are the executive producers of Iron Ocean. Michael Uppendahl will direct pilot and executive producer. Jim Atkinson and John Bloom act as consultant producers. The series originates from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and 20th Television, which is part of Disney Television Studios.
Best known for his role as Jonah Ryan in Veep, Simons will soon be seen in Disney + Home Sweet Home Alone, the renewal of the Alone at home holiday movie franchise. He was recently seen in the Hulu miniseries In search of Alaska. Simons recently finished filming Oliva Wilde Don’t worry darling as well as a recurring role in the film by Patrick Somerville Eleven station for director Hiro Murai.
