The Art of the Brick Launches “Bricks at Night” Event Series

THE ART OF THE BRICK – a captivating exhibition featuring works of art by celebrated contemporary artist Nathan Sawaya – kicked off the Bricks at Night summer event series, a weekly celebration of creativity and art. Located at historic 1 Grant Avenue, Bricks at Night invites adult LEGO® fans to explore Sawaya’s renowned and intricate artwork before visiting the Art of the Brick Lounge, an interactive activity center that will transform also into a lively bar for the weekly party series.

The limited series of events will take place weekly on Thursdays, starting May 12, 2022, from 6-9 p.m. All Bricks at Night ticket holders must be 21 years or older and present valid ID. Ticket prices start at $22 and are available online at www.artofthebrickexhibit.com.

Seen by more than 7 million people worldwide, THE ART OF BRICK has inspired the creativity and wonder of fans of all ages in more than 100 cities in 24 countries on 6 continents. Sawaya has been called “the Leonardo da Vinci of LEGO art” (PBS) and the Londoner hailed the artist, “Sayaya’s creations are legendary, his skills remarkable, his patience unfathomable”, and The New York Times has proclaimed “…playfulness is contagious.”Located in the heart of San Francisco, THE ART OF THE BRICK offers visitors a reimagined museum experience, with breathtaking contemporary art at every turn. The exhibition includes original works of art as well as reimagined versions of some of the world’s most famous artistic masterpieces, such as Van Gogh’s Starry Night and Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, made exclusively from bricks LEGO. The collection also includes a gallery showcasing an innovative multimedia collection of LEGO brick-infused photography that Sawaya produced in collaboration with award-winning photographer Dean West. walk beside a 20-foot-long T-Rex dinosaur skeleton made of bricks. The exhibit also features fan favorite Yellow, a sculpture of a man ripping open his chest with thousands of yellow LEGO bricks cascading from the cavity. THE ART OF THE BRICK is the first major exhibition to use LEGO bricks as the sole artistic medium. Sawaya transforms LEGO bricks into huge and stimulating sculptures, elevating the toy to the realm of art. Sawaya’s ability to transform this common toy into something meaningful, his dedication to spatial perfection and his way of conceptualizing action, allow him to elevate what almost every child has played with to the status of contemporary art.
