A new club event series and editorial platform, NYXXX, will launch with an event at London’s FOLD later this month.
NYXXX will hit the revered venue on Saturday, May 14, with Etapp Kyle, Marie Montexier, Niamh and special guest MarcelDune set to perform. The website is already live and promises to feature weekly reports and interviews from emerging and established artists, with a focus on supporting those committed to making dance music “fun, colorful and inclusive” and to lean towards techno. A monthly radio show is also set to start on Threads.
The party, the program and the platform all started in a different and unique format: the Quarantune blog. Set up to showcase photographic memories of dance floors during long pandemic shutdowns, during which clubs and other cultural spaces were closed, the project was created by journalist, DJ mag contributor, DJ and promoter Niamh O ‘Connor (pictured), who is now editor and resident of NYXXX, and host of the radio show. A photo book featuring images from the site was released in December 2020.
“Through NYXXX parties at FOLD, I hope to bring artists and ravers together to mix different musical styles. I’ve met some amazing, and sometimes underrated, DJs and producers over the past few years, so I’m just buzzing to invite them to FOLD and the colorful world of NYXXX,” O’Connor said. “These parties are about building community and working with artists who are truly fantastic humans with a magical presence both on and off the dance floor. Each event will celebrate them for a night of freedom, fun and of unity, which is valuable in the current climate.”
