Marvel’s Iron Fist miniseries gears up a new hero for the mantle

Danny Rand’s days as Immortal Iron Fist may be over (for now). But a new hero is about to step on the scene with the same Chi-focusing powers that made Danny a legend. After teasing the arrival of a new protector of K’un One earlier this week, Marvel has officially shared the first details of an upcoming Iron fist limited series of five issues that features a mysterious character who follows in Danny’s footsteps.

The conclusion of this year Iron Fist: Dragon Heart The miniseries found Danny giving up his power in order to save the world. However, it was only a matter of time before a new Iron Fist rose in its place. Marvel is still not disclosing the character’s identity. Either way, the ad teases that he may have acquired his powers through unconventional means. Either way, readers will follow as he battles demons and unveils new secrets behind the legend of Iron Fist. According to series editor Mark Paniccia, there are “things that even the most ardent Marvel fan would never have imagined!”

Iron fistThe creative team includes writer Alyssa Wong (Doctor Aphra) and artist Michael YG, who is making his Marvel debut. The series also features an important contribution from artist Jim Cheung, who designed the costume of the new hero. You can see Cheung’s cover for the first issue below.

“It’s an incredible honor to bring a new Iron Fist to the Marvel Universe,” Wong said. “I am delighted to dive into and build on the rich myth of comics. What does it mean for someone to take the mantle of Iron Fist now, today? As a newcomer, how do you interact with heritage and honor it while blazing a new path? I’m so happy to be working with artist Michael YG, colorist Jay Ramos, and the rest of the amazing team on this book. And writing this character, who sees things with new eyes, seems very special to me. “

Iron fist # 1 hits comic book stores on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.
