Two years ago, the Marvel Universe collided with fortnite when Marvel characters appeared in season 4 of Epic Games’ massively successful video game franchise in addition to a comic crossover published by Marvel. Get ready for another crossover like today the editor announcement a FORTNITE X MARVEL: ZERO WAR Limited series of 5 issues which will begin in June.
The series will be written by Christos Gage and Creative Director of Epic Games Donald Mustard with the art of Sergio Davila. The cover of the first issue will be designed by Leinil Francis Yu. No additional members of the creative team were mentioned in the press release. Gage, of course, is no stranger to Fortnite comic crossovers having penned the huge hit Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point limited series for the Distinguished Competition.
This is how the editor describes the Zero War limited series :
Following the success of the 2020 crossover, FORTNITE X MARVEL – NEXUS WAR: THOR, the upcoming mini-series in collaboration with Fortnite will feature some of Marvel’s greatest heroes including Spider-Man, Wolverine, Iron Man and Shuri. The comic book story follows the inhabitants of the island who are locked in what seems be a never-ending war, and only one thing has the potential to turn the tide – a crystallized shard from Zero Point that’s been thrown into the Marvel Universe. Spider-Man and Wolverine team up with Shuri and several Fortnite fan favorites to hunt down the elusive Zero Shard. Can these allies find him in time and avoid disaster? And can the heroes of Marvel and Fortnite realities hold out the Imaginary Order long enough to give them a fighting chance?
Editor Alanna Smith teased Marvel and Fornite fans about what’s to come in this new crossover:
“At its heart, the series is an adventure story, with characters from both universes coming together to hunt for treasure in the deepest, darkest depths of the Marvel Universe. Donald Mustard and Christos Gage have such a deep love for Fortnite and Marvel, and Sergio Davíla turns some absolutely unreal pages in. Having the amazing Leinil Francis Yu on the main covers and a killer lineup of Marvel artists on the variants has been a real gift too. It will be the ultimate team, where the best of Fortnite and Marvel will be represented.
A bit like the previous one fortnite crossover comics, the print version of each issue will include a redeemable code to unlock a bonus digital cosmetic. Additionally, Marvel Unlimited subscribers will receive an additional cosmetic if they read all five issues. If this limited-time offer wasn’t enough, all five issues of FORTNITE X MARVEL: ZERO WAR will be available on the Marvel Unlimited app when the last issue of the limited series hits stores.
Look for FORTNITE X MARVEL: ZERO WAR #1 to arrive in June
