A Lehighton man has been charged with assaulting his mother after an argument on a TV show.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed by Pennsylvania State Police Private Ryan English, Lehighton is barracked in the case against James Silvers.
At 12:50 p.m. on May 21, PSP Lehighton was sent to a home in Sam Brooke Circle in East Penn Township at the request of the Complainant who said an unknown woman arrived at his residence asking him to contact emergency medical services and state police because she had been assaulted by her son, Silvers, 43.
Upon arrival Privates John Heffner and Anthony Kingsley made contact with the victim who was walking down the middle of Lauchnor Road and observed that he was covered in blood and speaking incoherently/disjointedly.
The victim was transported to St. Luke’s Carbon Campus for further medical treatment for the injuries he had sustained.
She was later transported to the Bethlehem campus of St. Luke’s University Hospital due to the severity of her injuries.
At approximately 3:00 p.m. on May 26, PSP Lehighton was contacted by a member of St. Luke’s Crisis Response Service who reported that the victim had told of Silvers assaulting her, which resulted in her injuries.
At 12:30 p.m. on May 27, Trooper Daniel Magarelli and English conducted a taped interview with the victim at the Bethlehem campus of St. Luke’s.
The victim said that on May 21, she was assaulted by Silvers in the living room of her residence, as Silvers punched/punched her repeatedly in the facial area, at which time he pushed her to the ground between a table and a chair.
The victim said that before she was assaulted by Silvers, they were arguing about a TV show and that she kicked Silvers in the groin in an attempt to stop him from doing it. attack more.
The victim said that after the attack, Silvers went up to her room and ran out of the residence to her neighbor’s house to ask for help.
As a result of the injuries she sustained, the victim was intubated and underwent craniotomy (brain surgery).
English observed that the victim’s left and right eyes were swollen and bruised; she had multiple bruises on her forearms and legs; several staples on the right side of his head from surgery.
Silvers faces charges of aggravated assault, common assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment.
He is currently being held at the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bond and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing June 22 before Lansford District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek.
