WandaVision’s Kathryn Hahn is set to play groundbreaking comedian Joan Rivers in Showtime’s upcoming limited series The Comeback Girl.
Actress Catherine hahn is set to play Joan Rivers in Showtime’s upcoming limited series, The Return Girl. Hahn’s impressive and varied career spans two decades, during which time she worked regularly in high-profile films and television series such as How to lose a guy in 10 days, Jordan crossing, Transparent, and Parks and recreation. In January 2021, Hahn reached an even higher level of fame with his widely celebrated and Emmy-nominated performance in Disney +. WandaVision like Agnes, Wanda’s still close neighbor (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany), who turns out to be the evil Agatha Harkness.
Now Variety reports that Hahn will soon be playing the comedy icon, Jeanne Rivers, in the upcoming Showtime limited series, The return girl. Rivers, who died in 2014, was a revolutionary and at times controversial comedian, actress, writer, producer and host. The Return Girl will take place in the late 1980s, in the difficult personal and professional times that followed Rivers’ short-lived role as host of The Late Show with Joan Rivers.
The Return Girl will be directed by Arrowverse creator Greg Berlanti, also known for his work on Dawson Creek, YOU, and many other popular shows. The limited series will be written by Cosmo Carlson, who originally wrote The Return Girl as a spec script, and will be produced by Berlanti, Carlson and Hahn. It will be produced by Warner Bros. Television, Atlas Entertainment and Berlanti Productions. The rest of the casting has not yet been announced.
