Journey Museum spotlighted for national TV show

RAPID CITY, SD – On September 23, a television crew visited the Journey Museum and Learning Center to film the building for the upcoming season of “Behind the Scenes with Host Laurence Fishburne”.

“Behind the Scenes with Host Laurence Fishburne” is a documentary series for public television that creates long and short programs that focus on global industries and topics that have innovative, inspiring and artistic qualities.

Details of what the show will highlight or talk about at the museum remain unknown at this time. However, this is not the first time that the establishment has been in the spotlight.

“We’ve had a bit of national exposure before,” said executive director Troy Kilpatrick. “We had a historic CNN tour here two years ago before the pandemic, but nothing on that scope, where we’re doing something that’s going to be produced and deliberately shared across the country like Bbehind the scenes.

Kilpatrick and everyone at the museum were thrilled with the crew’s visit.

This opportunity, however, follows more than two decades of service and work by the many staff and volunteers past and present who have helped bring the museum and its missions to life.

“There are 24 years of volunteers and community members who have given themselves selflessly, in time and money,” he says. “To make sure The Journey is there to be featured in In the wings.

Information on the exact date and time of the show’s episode has yet to be released, but will air in early 2022. There will also be a digital and online version when it airs.
