AMC + unveiled the entire Anne Boleyn trailer for the upcoming US debut of Sony Pictures Television’s historical three-part psychological thriller, starring Jodie Turner-Smith as the titular Queen of England. The series is scheduled to air on Thursday, December 9, with the remaining two episodes airing on consecutive Thursdays.

The video, which you can watch below, highlights a mother’s determination to protect her only daughter’s future within the monarchy as she bravely challenges patriarchy and traditional laws that disadvantage women. .

The limited series is directed by Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim, without remorse) as Tudor Queen Anne Boleyn, who is both an icon and an enigma; described as a witch, sexual temptress, calculating opportunist and traitor. The drama will tell its notorious story from a different perspective – its own.

A chronicle of the infamous fall and execution of Anne Boleyn, the series reimagines the final months of the eponymous queen’s life as she struggles to secure a future for her daughter and to challenge the mighty patriarchy that is closing around her. ‘she,’ the synopsis read. “Anne Boleyn depicts the key moments that rock Anne, revealing her immense strength, fatal vulnerabilities and determination to be equal with men.

Joining Turner-Smith are Paapa Essiedu (I can destroy you) as Anne’s brother and Tudor nobleman George Boleyn; Mark Stanley (Game Of Thrones) as Henry VIII, one of the most famous kings in British history; Lola Petticrew (Blood lands) as Anne’s romantic rival, Jane Seymour; Barry Ward (White lines) as the closest and most powerful adviser to King Henry VIII, Thomas Cromwell; Jamael Westman (West End’s Hamilton) as the ambitious brother of Jane Seymour Edward; Amanda Burton (Silent witness) as a stoic housekeeper, Lady Anne Shelton; and Thalissa Teixeira (AMC + Rag doll) as Anne’s faithful confidante and cousin, Madge Shelton.

Anne Boleyn is directed by Lynsey Miller from a screenplay written by newcomer Eve Hedderwick Turner. It is produced by Faye Ward and Hannah Farrell through their London-based company Fable Pictures and supported by Sony Pictures Television (SPT), with renowned historian Dan Jones as executive producer.
