Jennifer Garner/JJ Abrams The Miniseries Isn’t Moving Forward on Apple TV+


Jennifer Garnier and JJ Abrams’ creative reunion will have to wait: Apple TV+ has dropped the limited series My glory was that I had such friendsa long gestation project on which A.k.a the veterinarians would have collaborated.

From our sister site Deadline, who broke the news, Apple’s decision came after Garner left the project due to scheduling conflicts. Warner Bros. Television and Abrams’ production company Bad Robot reportedly plan to buy the project elsewhere.

Based on Amy Silverstein’s memoir of the same name, My glory was that I had such friends received for the first time a command directly in series on Apple TV+ in December 2018. The miniseries – which would have marked Garner and Abrams’ first TV project together since A.k.a completed in 2006 — followed a woman awaiting a last-minute heart transplant, and her close friends who supported her along the way. In addition to starring on the show, Garner would have served as an executive producer alongside Abrams, but news on the show was minimal after his initial series order.

Garner is still set to appear in another Apple miniseries, The last thing he said to mewhich has been in production since May.

News of a discontinued Bad Robot project may sound familiar: In June, HBO has officially dropped Abrams’ sci-fi drama Demimonde, more than four years after placing an order directly in series. The cancellation was reportedly largely due to Abrams’ proposed budget of over $200 million for the series, which would have exceeded even HBO’s impending (and expensive) figures. game of thrones prequel Dragon House.
