Is Candy inspired by a true story?

Yes, Candy is based on the true story of Texan Candy Montgomery and how she became known as “The Ax Murderer”.

Candy was framed for the murder of her best friend and Lucas Methodist Church member, Betty Gore.

Also, the charges against Candy were fueled by the fact that she was having an affair with Betty’s husband, Allan.

Although she was charged with the murder of Betty in 1980, Candy was acquitted of all charges against her after her pleas said she killed Betty in self-defense after the latter discovered the affair. from her husband.
