“Heatwave” Limited Series on HBO Max by Shannon Murphy and Anna Symon – Deadline


HBO Max is growing Heat wave, a limited series from director Shannon Murphy (Kill Eve), writer Anna Symon (Mrs Wilson) and Banijay’s Tiger Aspect Productions.

Written by Symon, in Heat wave, On a steamy family vacation in Ibiza, a woman in her forties embarks on a daring adventure with her friends’ teenage son. As the temperature rises, long-held secrets and buried grievances set both marriages on fire. Both couples must come to terms with the reality of who they once were and what they have become now.

Executive producers Symon and Murphy and Murphy will direct the first block of the series. Peaky Blinders producer Tiger Aspect executive produces for HBO Max.

BAFTA nominated Symon recently wrote the adaptation of The Essex Serpent, with Claire Danes and Tom Hiddleston, based on the bestselling novel by Sarah Perry, for Apple TV+. Her other credits include the TV miniseries deep waters and Miss Wilson.

Murphy made her feature film directorial debut with 2019 Deciduous teeth, with Ben Mendelsohn, Essie Davis and Eliza Scanlen. On television, she directed several episodes of Kill Eve and currently working on The power, Prime Video’s 10-episode global thriller based on Naomi Alderman’s feminist sci-fi book, and set to be made the wanderers, the series adaptation of Emily Bitto’s novel, with Apogee Pictures and See Pictures. Murphy is replaced by Lark Management.
