‘Fortnite’ partners with Universal Pictures for new ‘Shortnitemares’ miniseries

Universal Pictures has partnered with Epic Games’ Fornite to bring his classic movie monsters to the world of video games.

The film studio has teamed up with the gaming platform to create an original, animated, short-lived miniseries dubbed We will be monsters, which features contemporary versions of characters from days gone by, including Frankenstein’s Bride, Dracula, and the Mummy. Besides the modernized appearance of each character, the series marks the first time that most famous monsters have been multi-ethnic.

The series will run over four episodes with a staggered launch, meaning viewers will have to wait for the release of each subsequent episode after the initial debuts. We will be monsters will premiere in Fornite on October 28 as part of Shornitemares, an in-game horror film festival that will feature seven animated shorts from around the world.

The first episode sheds new light on the fiancée of Frankenstein and Dracula; and after its premiere, the Ancient Monster will be available in the Item Shop as a skin. The remaining episodes, which will also arrive with new skins, will be released early next year.

The series, directed by Rick Famuyiwa, who directed several episodes of Disney’s The Mandalorian, stars Chemon Theys as the Bride, Victory Ndukwe as the Frankenstein Monster and Emmy Saheki as the Mummy, among others.

Somewhere else, Call of Duty: Vanguard enlisted a true war photojournalist for a set of limited edition prints.
