Emma Corrin featured in Retired Murder Mystery Miniseries | TV shows

Last August, we learned that Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, the creators of The OA were set to work on TV again, and specifically on a new murder mystery miniseries titled Retreat. The show took a big step forward with the word that The crown‘s Emma Corrin took the lead.

Marling will also play a key role in the series, which will follow a Gen Z amateur sleuth named Darby Hart (Corrin). Darby and 11 other guests are invited by a lone billionaire to participate in a retreat to a remote and dazzling place. When one of the other guests is found dead, Darby must fight to prove that this is murder against a tide of competing interests and before the killer takes another life …

Knowing who it’s coming from, one can expect a lot more than just a thriller, and indeed it promises to be a “radical conceptualization” of the idea. It will appear on US cable channel FX first, which makes us think it might end up here on Disney + Star, given FX’s connection to US streaming service Hulu and all the nature of entertainment that Disney owns today. Yet the idea of Marling and Batmanglij having the chance to tell a full story following the unfair cancellation of The OA is attractive.
