Elizabeth Perkins to star in Fox’s “A Moody Christmas” holiday event series

Elizabeth Perkins starred alongside Denis Leary in “A Moody Christmas,” Fox’s upcoming holiday event series.

The six-episode comedy, adapted from the Australian series of the same name, centers around the Moodys, “including Sean Sr. (Leary), his wife, Ann (Perkins), their three grown children and a matching mix of members of extended family reuniting for the holidays, each packing their own quirks and complications, ”according to Fox’s description.

Ann is “the matriarch of the Moodys, a tight-knit but mildly dysfunctional family of five who all return home to Chicago for the holidays, hiding secrets.”

Co-produced by CBS TV Studios and Fox Entertainment, “A Moody Christmas” will air in December on Fox.

“I can’t think of any better sheet for Denis Leary than Elizabeth,” said Michael Thorn, president of entertainment at Fox Entertainment. “She’s got the comedy chops and gravity to go with him in any situation, and I can’t wait to see their chemistry ignite onscreen. Here is a very Moody Christmas! “

“A Moody Christmas” is written and produced by Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg and Tad Quill. Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum, Trent O’Donnell, Phil Lloyd and Jason Burrows are also executive producers. The event series is based on the Jungleboys Entertainment Pty Limited and Australian Broadcasting Corporation series of the same name.

Perkins’ small screen credits include HBO’s “Sharp Objects”, NBC’s “This is Us”, Netflix’s GLOW, as well as “Weeds” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” She will then be seen in the next series “Truth be Told”, opposite Octavia Spencer and Lizzy Caplan.
