Early ‘Pam & Tommy’ Reviews Praise Hulu’s Salacious Miniseries

Earlier this month, Hulu released the official trailer for its upcoming miniseries. Pam and Tommy with Lily James and Sebastian Stan. Marketed as “the greatest love story ever sold”, Pam and Tommy will be a dramatic account of the international scandal involving the leaked sex tape of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee. In 1997, the tape was leaked to the public and became an overnight sensation.

Stan plays Tommy Lee, an American musician and founding member of the metal band Mötley Crüe. James stars as Pamela Anderson, the Canadian-American actress known for her many appearances in Playboy magazine and the hit 90s TV series Baywatch. In addition to tracks, Pam and Tommy co-stars Seth Rogen as Rand Gauthier and Taylor Schilling as Erica Gauthier, the couple who originally leaked the outrageous sex tape.

The series’ very early reviews are pouring in as critics give their take on the outrageous miniseries. SlashFilm call Pam and Tommy an “addictive and wild ride that walks the fine line between outrageous and respectful.” Many viewers feared — and still fear — the Hulu original, especially since its biographical premise essentially benefits from the notoriety Anderson and Lee received from the scandal. Some critics even claimed that Pamela Anderson was “a victim of a crime.”

Regardless of the intentions behind producing such an insightful series (presumably), Pam and Tommy made waves and received widespread critical acclaim. The public only has to wait another week before seeing for themselves whether or not Pam and Tommy will faithfully recount the ordeal as it unfolded and convey the factual story rather than an overly dramatized memory.

Pam and Tommy premieres on February 2, 2022.
