Ciarán Hinds joins Charlie Cox in Netflix spy drama miniseries Treason


According to DeadlineGolden Globe nominee Ciarán Hinds has signed to star opposite daredevil star Charlie Cox in upcoming Netflix limited drama Treason, centering on an MI6 agent and his wife as their relationship changes with the arrival of a Russian spy. The Irish actor is set to play the role of Sir Martin Angelis, described as Adam de Cox’s boss and mentor.

Hinds recently starred in Kenneth Branagh’s critically acclaimed drama Belfast. For his performance in the film, he is currently nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. The upcoming miniseries also marks Cox and Hinds’ final collaboration after starring together in the AMC+ crime drama. Close.

Described as Bodyguard meets John Le Carré, Treason will be written and produced by bridge of spies‘ Matt Charman, who will also serve as showrunner. Joining Cox and Hinds is previously announced Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Comfort, Black Widow) and Oona Chaplin (game of thrones).

“The miniseries centers on Adam Lawrence, trained and groomed by MI6, whose career appears to be well established,” reads the synopsis. “But when the past catches up with him in the form of Kara, a Russian spy with whom he shares a complicated past, he is forced to question everything and everyone in his life. A triangular relationship forms between Kara, Adam, and his wife, Maddy; three people trying to expose each other’s secrets, navigate political and diplomatic relationships, while clinging to their personal lives and those they love most.

Foz Allan and Valery Ryan should be executive producers Treasonwith Louise Hooper (the witcher) to pilot the project. It is a production of Binocular Productions.
