Following the premiere of Bridgerton Season 2, Netflix has finally announced the main cast of Shonda Rhimes’ upcoming spinoff miniseries about the origins of Queen Charlotte, played by Golda Rosheuval in the main drama. Leading the main cast of Bridgerton’s prequel is India Amarteifio (Course of action), who was cast as Rosheuval’s young version of Queen Charlotte.

Joining Amarteifio are newcomer Arsema Thomas as young Agatha Danbury and Corey Mylchreest (Sand seller) as a young King George, with game of thrones vet Michelle Fairley as Princess Augusta. Their official character descriptions are listed below:
- Charlotte d’Amarteifio – Betrothed to the mysterious King of England against her will, Charlotte arrives in London to find that she is not exactly what the royal family expected. As she learns to navigate the palace, the ‘tone, and her unpredictable husband, she becomes one of Europe’s most unforgettable monarchs.
- Thomas’ Agatha Danbury – Under the thumb of a much older husband, Agatha takes advantage of Charlotte’s arrival to find her own way in society. With a deep understanding of the once divided social scene and the intricacies of marriage, Agatha becomes a guide for the new queen, while finding her own voice and power that we will soon recognize as Bridgertonis the iconic Lady Danbury.
- King George of Mylchreest – Handsome, charismatic and a bit mysterious, George always bowed to the constraints imposed on him as a crown. Until now. Having to share his space and his bed with his new wife forces George to confront his hidden demons head-on.
- Princess Augusta of Fairley – Determined to maintain her family’s power, the Dowager Princess is doing what it takes to secure her son’s place as monarch amid a changing and modernizing Britain .

The limited series is based on the origins of historical figure Queen Charlotte. While the series focuses on the rise and love life of a young Queen Charlotte, it will also focus on Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury.
“Focused on the rise to power and notoriety of Queen Charlotte, this Bridgerton-verse prequel chronicles how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both great romance and societal change, creating the world of Ton inherited by the characters of Bridgertonreads the connecting line.
The untitled Bridgerton spin-off is created and written by Shonda Rhimes, who is also set as showrunner. It will feature the return of Golda Rosheuval, Adjoa Andoh and Ruth Gemmell as they reprise their respective roles as Queen Charlotte, Lady Danbury and Lady Violet Bridgerton.

Additional cast includes Sam Clemmett (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) as Young Brimsley, Richard Cunningham (the witcher) as Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim (Nancy Drew) as Adolphus, Rob Maloney (Victim) as Royal Doctor, and Cyril Nri (Cucumber) as Lord Danbury and Hugh Sachs (Bridgerton Seasons 1 and 2) as Brimsley (older).
The prequel will be produced by Rhimes, Betsy Beers, and Tom Verica, who will also direct the limited drama.
